Share with us the history of the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters, for which Square has been the official furniture supplier since 1998.
Rolex Monte Carlo Masters
The Rolex Monte Carlo Masters was established in 1897. Which makes it one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world. It is also one of the three Masters 1000 tournaments of the Atp to be played on clay. The other two are the Madrid tournament and the Rome tournament. Formerly named the Monte Carlo Tennis Championship, the tournament was renamed in 2006, under the patronage of the famous Swiss watchmaker Rolex. Since 1928 it has been organized at the Monte Carlo Country Club. With the exception of the 2020 session, which was canceled due to the health crisis, the tournament still takes place in April. This year it takes place from April 10 to 18.
The Monte Carlo Country Club is made up of around twenty courts. However during the tournament, only five are used for competition and six for training. The central court is called “Court Rainier III” in homage to Prince Rainier, third of the name, who was nicknamed “the building prince” because of his contribution to the real estate development of Monaco.
The player who won the tournament the most times is Rafael Nadalwith 11 titles including 8 consecutive from 2005 to 2012 and then from 2016 to 2018.
The 2021 tournament
Square has been the official supplier of tournament furniture since 1998. Usually, we deliver a volume of around 6 furniture semi-trailers to this event. However, due to health restrictions, the tournament is being played behind closed doors this year. This session will therefore be less important in terms of volume to deliver. With the Monaco Yacht Show, another major event in the principality, this is one of the most difficult projects in terms of delivery. Indeed, the infrastructure of the building with its different levels and stairs, represents a challenge in terms of delivery. Despite this, it is with constant pleasure that Square participates in this prestigious event.
